Does My Town Have Watering Restrictions?

2019 Rules for Outdoor Water Use

  • Water during cooler times of the day — lawn watering is not allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Water no more than three days per week.
  • Do not allow water to pool in gutters, streets, and alleys.
  • Do not waste water by letting it spray on concrete and asphalt.
  • Repair leaking sprinkler systems within 10 days.
  • Do not irrigate while it is raining or during high winds.
  • Use a hose nozzle with a shut-off valve when washing your car.

These rules are mandatory. Repeat offenders may be fined.

Cities Not Served by Denver Water

Parker and Castle Rock’s water supplies are independent of Denver Water.  Parker has voluntary watering restrictions and Castle Rock has permanent watering restrictions and has since 1985. Voluntary watering restrictions are usually set at either two days of watering a week or a restriction on daytime watering.

One tip for watering. While Denver Water pushes for nighttime watering, as your lawn service expert we’d like to add that early-evening watering can cause fungi to form in your lawn so we recommend timing your sprinkler system pre-dawn as opposed to right after sunset.
